ÁRPÁD GEORGE: FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT The Board of Directors meeting was held from March 28 to April 1. On March 30 the Board of Directors unanimously voted that Rt. Rev. Dr. Zoltán Beky President, Rt. Rev. Arpad George Secretary, László L. Eszenyi Controller and the late Paul St. Miklossy Treasurer he officially released from the responsibilities for the year of 1976. President Beky made a farewell address to the Board of Directors. He then turned the gavel to the newly elected President Arpad George, wishing him and the other National Officers good health in their respective positions. District meetings were held in Cleveland, Homestead, Perth Amboy and Whiting. At the Perth Amboy meeting citation of meritorious awards were given to: Mr. Frank Antal — 10 years service as manager of branch No. 368; Mr. Stephen György — 44 years service as manager and agent of branch No. 13; Mr. Geza Megyesi — 30 years service of branch No. 144; Mr. John Nagy — many decades of faithful service of branch No. 1; Mr. Albert St. Miklossy — 15 years service as section and branch manager of Nos. 79, 80 and 284. The President extended the greetings of the HRFA to Calvin Synod on April 18 in Ligonier, Pa. At the banquet held on April 19, he gave “glimpses into the past” in honor of the Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Szabó. Sincerely yours, Mrs. Betty Fekete, Building Fund Treasurer.” The President delivered the English sermon at the mortgage paper burning worship service held on April 24th. The Treasurer and the Secretary thanked the congregation at the banquet for their prompt mortgage payments according to schedule. We were pleased to see the pastor recovering from his illness. Rev. Joseph Benedek served the HRFA for many years as Supervisor. On April 30 the Hungarian Scouts Association held its quadrennial convention in Monroeville, Pa. 183 scout leader delegates assembled from the five continents. Following the meeting a dinner-dance was held, attended by 500 persons. Mr. Gabor Bodnar was unanimously reelected Executive President. Mr. and Mrs. Bodnar and their children are members of the HRFA. The President and Executive Vice-President represented the HRFA. On May 5th the Honorable Milton J. Shapp, the governor of Pennsylvania signed the proclamation declaring June 8-14, 1977 as Fraternal Week. A plane load of fraternal representatives from the Pittsburgh area were unable to he present because their airplane was not permitted to land in Harrisburg on account of the heavy fog. The President and Secretary represented the HRFA. On May 22 the Hungarian Reformed Church in Allen Park, Michigan held its thanksgiving mortgage paper worship service. The cost of the modern parsonage was $100,000. The congregation paid the mortgage given by the HRFA on a 15 year repayment period basis in one year. Congratulations! Bishop Dezső Abraham, pastor, is also a Vice-President of the HRFA. The Federation was represented at the service and banquet by Miss Ethel Molnár director and Dr. Tibor Halo Section Manager. On May 29 at the pentecost service held in Washington, D.C., the Rt. Rev. Dr. Zoltán Beky, the Honorary President of the HRFA baptized his great-grandchild Michelle Amy Westerman, the child of Jeffrey R. Westerman and Margaret Lori Parker. Following the worship service the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Parker entertained the relatives and friends in their Alexandria home. The Beky, Parker and Westerman families are members of the HRFA. Mr. Parker was a delegate to our 1972 and 1976 convention and is the Vice-President of Branch No. 300. On June 19 the Beky, Parker and Dr. Harsanyi 2
