ÁRPÁD GEORGE: FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY Production Contest. In our 80th anniversary year we had two Pro­duction Contests for the January 1 — May 31 period. The winners of the Branch Managers contest were: Sándor Szabadkay, Donna Vespremi, Steve Üveges, Alexander Kayatin, Joseph Nagy, Carl J. Savage, Frank Torzsok, Julius Veress. The winners of our District and Section Managers contest were: Dr. Tihor Koss, Dr. Antal Viczian, Jolin Szaho, Dr. Ti­bor Halo, Irene Bakty, Joseph Molnár, Jr., Emma Oris, Wilma Szaho. William Puskas, Frank Dance, Alexander Hody, László Kernes, Tibor Dolinszky, Caroline Baksy and Maria László. The two contests were a success. At the end of May our production surpassed the quota reqirement by 141%. At the end of October it decreased to 98%. The amount of the production for the June 1 — October 31 period was 39% of the production for the Jaunary 1 — May 31 period. The winners of the two contests deserve recognition and the highest praise. Our .two new Section Managers. After many years of dedicated services, Mr. Geza Megyesi resigned from the manager position of our Cartaret, New Jersey Branch 144. He recommended his nephew Mr. Louis Medgyesi to be his successor. Mr. William Puskas, Area Manager, persuaded him to become a Section Manager. He was born in Nyír­bátor, Hungary. Emmigrated to the U. S. in 1956. Graduated from Bethel College, Tennessee, majoring in history and social studies. Served with distinction in the U. S. Army from 1969 to 1971. Married Eliza­beth Gargasos. Has two children: Lajos and Marian. He is an elder of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Perth Amboy. We urge the members of Branch 144 to call on Mr. Louis Medgyesi for their life and health insurance needs. Mr. William Puskas, Area Manager, succeeded in bis effort to get Mr. Joseph Tegze as Section Ma­nager. He was born and raised in Passaic, N. J. Attended Newark College and Fairleigh Dickinson College, majoring in engineering. He is a certified manufacturing engineer and a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He is the director of engineers of the Quaker City Industries. He served in the U. S. Navy in World War II. He is a member and past president of the American Legion Csaky- Gasko Memorial Post No. 387 in Passaic, N. J. Mr. Tegze is interested in church work and Hungarian cultural activities. A lifelong member, and elder and past president of the Passaic Hungarian Reformed Church. Sings in the choir every Sunday; was a church delegate to Calvin Synod and to the General Synod of the United Church of Christ. Past president of the Hungarian Reformed Presbyters Association. Mr. Tegze was the area chairman of the Hungarian Festival held in Holmdel, N. J. He married Wendy Surdyka and has two sons: Keith and Greg. It is a pleasure to introduce Mr. Joseph Tegze as our new Section Manager to our members and urge them to contact him for any insurance need. National Fraternal Congress of America. The 1976 National Fraternal Congress meeting was held on September 26 —- 29 in Hollywood, Flo­rida. President Beky and the Secretary represented the Federation. The prayer opening the NFCA was said by Dr. Zoltán Beky. The theme of the 3 days meeting was “Fraternalism Fosters Patriotism!” Ad­dresses were delived on the theme by Dr. John H. Griffin, MD President and Mr. Richard C. Wolter, Vice President. A film entitled “The Fraternal Role in the Nation s Bicentennial Celebration” was shown by the Aid Association for Lutherans. Copies of the film will be made and it may be used free of charge by fraternal societies affiliated with the NFCA. Rev. Janos Hunter Vadasz Rev. Vadasz is a member of our Federation. He graduated from the Millvalleybe Theological Semi­nary. He preached every Sunday on the San Francis­co radio. He is the President of the American Bap­tist Association. On November 7th he was installed in­to the pastorate of the Alhabia Hungarian Baptist Church. Many members of our San Jose Branch at­tended the installation service and banquet. Greet­ings, warm friendly words and best wishes were ex­tended at the banquet by Mr. István Serres, President of Branch 378. Dr. Tibor Koss, Section Manager was unable to attend but sent a telegram of congratulation. Seventieth Anniversary. The Cleveland West Side Hungarian Reformed Church celebrated its 70th anniversary on October 17th. The Secretary said the prayer at the Hungarian and preached the sermon at the English Anniversary Worship Service. The Anniversary Banquet was held in the large fellowship hall of the Szent Imre Church. At the banquet the Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Szabó Vice 3
