24. The program further included a song and guitar composition by Miss Lory Parker and more songs by the Rev. Imre Bertalan. 25. Former President Francis Újlaki, former treasurer Imre Király and Mr. Joseph Dula, one of the oldest field workers, were introduced by Secretary Arpad George, Controller László Eszenyi and Treasurer Paul St. Miklossy, respectively. They were presented with plaques, representing the highest award of the Federation. Because of his advanced age, Mr. Dula was unable to be present. He will receive his award in Cleveland in an appropriately solemn manner. 26. Gold medals were presented for their outstanding achievements to John Szabó, Géza Megyesi, Albert Oris, John Nagy, Imre Bogár, Stephen György, John Rigo, the Rev. Alexander Marton, Mrs. Joseph Torma (a member over 60 years); office managers Mrs. Ida Bankó, Mrs. Miklós Thegze Gerber, Mrs. Susie Kaufman were given cash gifts; a number of Branch Managers received honorable mention. 27. The Rev. August Molnár, President of the Hungarian Studies Foundation, was presented with a check in the amount of $1,000.00 as a gift to the Foundation. 28. Alexander Marton Recording Secretaries SECOND DAY Tuesday, June 27, 1972 29. President Beky called the Convention to order at 9:30 a.m. 30. The Rev. Desmond Parragh led the Convention in the morning devotions. Plenary Session 31. President Beky opened the Plenary Session of the Second Day at 9:40 a.m. 32. Recording Secretary Vitéz read the Roll Ca! . ^.cryone was asked to stand for the purpose of personal introduction. With the exception of a few latecomers all accredited members were present. President Beky declared that punctuality would be taken seriously and non-appearance would result in loss of benefits. 33. Recording Secretary Dr. Harsanyi read the Minutes of the Session of the First Day. The following corrections were made: item 2, Mrs. Donna Vespremi replaced Mr. Alex Palfi (not Papp); item 17, c)to read: “15 cents per mile for actual travel and toll charges;, item 26, to the list of Gold Medal recipients the names of John Szabó (Canada), Frank Jantek and Stephen Üveges are to be added and John Szabó whose name does appear on the list should be identified as “John Szabó (N. J.).” The Convention approved, the Minutes with the above corrections. The President asked Dr. Otto Hamos and John Nagy to attest to the same. 34. President Beky appointed Bishops Beretz and Abraham and Dr. Lajos Fury as a committee to draw up the text of the customary Message of the Convention to the Hungarian Reformed people in America, in he old country and in the dispersion. 35. The Convention heard the Report of Secretary Arpad George (Exhibit B-2). The Convention unanimously accepted the Secretarys report as a whole and referred it to the respective committee for further discussion. 36. The Convention heard the Report of Treasurer Paul St. Miklossy (Exhibit B-3). The Treasurer updated the statistical figures announcing e.g. that total assets of the Federation have risen to $17,208,017.88 as of date of the Convention. The Convention unanimously accepted the Treasurer's report as a whole and referred it to the respective committee for further discussion. 37. President Beky recessed the Convention at 11:10 and re-opened it at 11:35. 38. The Convention heard the Report of Controller László Eszenyi (Exhibit B-4). The Controller also updated the statistical figures of his report and announced that the policies in force have passed the 50 million mark. The Convention unanimously accepted the Controller’s report as a whole and referred it to the respective committee for further discussion. 39. The Convention heard the Report of Alex B. Eger, Jr., Legal Counsellor (Exhibit C). The Convention unanimously accepted the Legal Counsellor’s report as a whole and referred it to the respective committee for further discussion. 40. The Convention heard the Report of Dr. Paul Harsanyi, Medical Director (Exhibit D). The Convention unanimously accepted the Medical Director’s report as a whole and referred it to the respective committee for further discussion. 41. President Beky appointed Controller Eszenyi and Lt. Col. Parker as a committee of two to organize the placing of a wreath on the Ligonier War Monument in the name of the Federation by all veterans present at the Convention who had served in either the American or the Hungarian armed forces in any of the wars. Controller Eszenyi reported that some preparations were made already in this matter and that the ceremony would probably take place Wednesday during the lunch hour. 42. President Beky adjourned the Convention at 12:40 until 2:15 p.m. He announced that lunch would be served each day in the orphanage. 43. President Beky reopened the Plenary Session at 2:35 p.m. 44. The Convention heard the Report of Superintendent Louis Nagy on the Bethlen Home. (Exhibit E. The report was distributed in both languages.) 45. The Convention heard the Report of the Board of Directors of the Bethlen Freedom Press, presented by Secretary- Treasurer Louis Nagy. (Exhibit F.) Controller Eszenyi submitted an “Analysis of Income & Expenses Since Establishment” (Exhibit G.) of the Press pointing out that of the $274,509.09 total income only 76% were from jobs performed while 13% were from various donations and 11% from loans from the Bethlen Home.
