88. President Beky appointed the following Nominating Committee: From the Board of Directors: Vice Presidents Stephen Syposs and Tibor Toth; Directors Joseph Molnár, Charles Modory, William Aros and the Rev. Imre Bertalan; from the New York District: Rev. Gabor Csordás, Dr. Louis Fury and Dr. Otto Hamos; from the New Jersey District: Bishop Dezső Abraham, Geza Megyesi and Charles Kovács; from the Pennsylvania District: Mrs. Helen Szuch and Mrs. Olga Darnay; from the Ohio District: Rev. Alexander Marton, Albert Oris and Mrs. Eleanor Kopp; from the Detroit Section: Thomas Halo; from the Chicago District: Mrs. Elvira Ludwig; from the California District: Jeno Nemeth; from Canada: Joseph Bakty. President Beky instructed the Committee to start its work right after having received applicants’ qualifications from the Board of Directors and report back to the Convention its work completed. 89. President Beky recessed the Convention at 10:05. 90. President Beky reopened the Session at 11:25. He ap­pointed Delegates Stephen Üveges, Mrs. Rose Kovács and Mrs. Irene Sakalo as attestors to Thursday’s Minutes. He announced that the Federation’s “Message” is available in English, the translation having been made by Bishops Abraham and Beretz and Lt. Col. Parker. Then President Beky thanked for the wonderful cooperation of the Convention and handed over the gavel for Temporary Chairman Parragh. 91. Temporary Chairman Parragh asked for the Report of the Qualifying Committee of the Board of Directors. It was re­ported that the Committee qualified incumbant President Beky as candidate for the office of president. The Rev. Gabor Csordás, Secretary of the Nominating Committee (Vice President Syposs chairman) reported that the Committee received a petition signed by 64 Delegates (Exhibit S) recommending Dr. Zoltán Beky for President; concurring with this petition the Commit­tee recommended Dr. Beky for reelection on the basis of meri­torious services by acclamation. The Convention elected Dr. Beky by acclamation and accorded him a standing ovation. The Chairman de­clared Dr. Beky duly elected President. Dr. Beky visibly and deeply moved thanked the Convention for their renewed trust with gratitude to God, pledged to serve the Federation with all his ability; he asked for he assistance for all leaders and members. 92. The Rt. Rev. Arpad George was nominated to the Office of Secretary; his reelection by acclamation was recom­mended The Rt. Rev. Arpad George was reelected Secretary by acclamation. The Chairman declared him duly elected Secretary. 93. Mr. Paul St. Miklossy, incumbent Treasurer, was nomi­nated for reelection as Treasurer; his election by acclamation was recommended Mr. Paul St. Miklossy was reelected Treasurer by acclamation. The Chairman declared him duly elected Treasurer. 94. Mr. László Eszenyi, incumbent Controller, was nom­inated for reelection as Controller; his election by acclamation was recommended Mr. László Eszenyi was reelected Controller by accla­mation. The Chairman declared him duly elected Con­troller. The reelected National Officers singularly thanked the Convention for the trust placed in them and pledged their continued faithful services. 95. The Rt. Rev. Stephen Szabó, Mr. Stephen Syposs, the Rev. Tibor Toth, incumbent Vice Presidents and Bishop Dezső Abraham were nominated to the 3 posts as Vice Presidents. The Chairman appointed Delegates John Nagy and Mrs. Irene Sakalo as Tellers for the duration of the elections. From 65 votes counted Dr. Stephen Szabó received 49, Mr. Stephen Syposs 45, the Rev. Tibor Toth 47, Bishop Dezső Abraham 33 votes. The Chairman declared Dr. Stephen Szabó, Rev. Tibor Toth and Stephen Syposs duly elected Vice Presidents. 96. Andrew Kurimai was nominated by the Committee for reelection as Director from the New York District. There were no other nominations. The Chairman instructed the Secretary to cast a unanimous ballot for Andrew Kurimai. 97. Dr. Otto Hamos was nominated by the Committee as alternate Director from the New York District. The Chairman instructed the Secretary to cast a unanimous ballot for Dr. Hamos. 98. The Rev. Imre Bertalan and Joseph Molnár were nom­inated by the Committee and John Szabó was nominated from the floor for the two directorial posts from New Jersey. From 64 votes counted Rev. Bertalan received 59, Joseph Molnár 54 and John Szabó 11 votes. The Chairman declared Rev. Imre Bertalan and Joseph Molnár duly elected Directors for the New Jersey District. 99. Charles Kovács and Geza Megyesi were nominated by the Committee as alternates from New Jersey. There were no other nominations. The order of the alternates was decided by droving lots. As the result of this the Chairman declared Charles Kovács alternate for Director Bertalan and Geza Megyesi alternate for Director Molnár. 100. Charles Nagy Jr., William Such and Stephen Üveges were nominated by the Committee for the two directorial posts from the Pittsburgh District. From 65 votes counted William Such received 48, Charles Nagy, Jr. 45 and Stephen Üveges 28 votes. The Chairman declared IVilliam Such and Charles Nagy, Jr. duly elected Directors for the Pittsburgh District. 101. The Rev. Louis Illés, Frank Jantek and Mrs. Rose Kovács were nominated by the Committee, Stephen üveges was nominated from the floor for the two alternates from the Pitts­burgh District. From 65 votes counted Rev. Louis Illés received 39, Frank Jantek 38, Stephen üveges 26 and Mrs. Rose Kovács 19 votes. The Chairman declared the Rev. Louis Illés alternate for Director IVilliam Szuch and Frank Jantek alter­nate for Director Charles Nagy, Jr. 102. William Aros and Elmer Varga were nominated by the Committee for the two directorial posts from the Ohio District. There were no other nominations. The Chairman instructed the Secretary to cast a unanimous ballot for IVilliam Aros and Elmer Varga. 24
