Our insurance in force surpassed 49 million, our assets passed the 16% million dollar mark. Our Federation has a firm foundation, which must be to the reassurance of our Board and also to our membership. IMPLEMENTED RESOLUTIONS We have implemented the resolutions passed on the spring and fall meeting of the Board. We held our scholarship-competition. The Board voted $3,000.00 for it. 25 young people (college-student) competed. The essays were scrutinized by the officers and with the approval of the Board, the following were awarded: Is. prize winners: Richard W. Aros, Donald A. Ves- premi, Frank Csaba Door. 2nd prize winners: William B. Puskas, Anikó A. Kovács, Judith Pataki, Thomas W. Door, John Kantor, Csilla Bodnar (Girl-Scout). 3rd prize winners: Ilona Jánosi and John Szurcsik. The competition was well received by our youth, and it also helped the membership campaign of our Federation. The pictures and biographies of the winners and two of the essays we have published in the last issues of the Fraternity. The scholarship-competition is very important. We should hold it in the anniversary year as well. We ask the approval of the Board for the same. NEW BY-LAWS OF THE BETHLEN HOME Our new by-laws for the Bethlen Home are ready. It is now in accordance with the requirements of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Committee with the addition of Bishop Abraham and President Butosi did its job. The Board of Directors of the Bethlen Home approved the new by-laws. It has been printed and distributed. FLOOD IN HUNGARY The amount voted by the Board of Directors was sent to the Reformed Church of Hungary and in agreement with the proper authorities it was given to the most suffered church district, that of Szatmár Classis. HEART-LUNG MACHINE The Board meeting of September authorized a new fund for an additional machine. I request the Board to make the necessary provision in our budget for this resolution. FRATERNITY Our official organ is being published quarterly, but with increased contents. We save approximately $8,000. It is amply sufficient for promotion and information. I edit the paper with the cooperation of my fellow officers. PENSION FUND Our Board decided to further the liberalization of our Pension Fund. The President and the Controller were entrusted to prepare the plans. It will be discussed at this present meeting of the Board. THE HISTORY OF OUR FEDERATION I have compiled the history of our Federation and published it in a book of 100 pages. It was published in 500 copies. A copy was received by the members of the Board, field force, ministers and the Hungarian Press. There is such an interest in this publication that we had to print an additional 1000 copies. It is not only an excellent source book for those who are studying the history of the American Hungarians, their churches and the Federation, but also an instrument of our promotional work in the field. THE SALE OF FEDERATION HOUSES The resolution concerning the sale of the Federation houses we could not implement. ADMINISTRATION Our By-Laws describe the duties and privileges of the President in paragraph 43 (a.) (-i.). I do not wish to give detailed information here, the proper Committee will see the in detail. I wish to remark only that I tried to fulfil my obligations in accordance with our By-Laws. I have examined and countersigned all deeds, certificates, checks and drafts. I exercised my cultural and fraternal responsibilities. I lectured about our Federation. I have conducted worship services regardless of denominational affiliations. I spoke at several anniversaries and national holiday celebrations. I wrote several articles in church and secular Hungarian and American papers. I have called executive meetings 56 times. I have edited the Fraternity. HUNGARIAN WORSHIP SERVICES IN D. C. We conducted the worship services and services of holy communion for the Hungarian community in Washington, D. C., in cooperation with the secretary. APPOINTMENT BY THE PRESIDENT It is with joy that I wish to report that the President of the United States, Richard M. Nixon, appointed me Presidential Adviser in the National Council of Small Business Administration on October 1, 1970. This was the highest reward given to me for my public service of four decades, and I see it not only as a personal re20
