shall be provided. The transfer shall become official when the properly completed and signed transfer form is approved by the Secretary of the Federation and recorded in the Home Office. Transfers shall be made to either the branch nearest the residence of the member, or to the Home Office branch. A member with more than one certificate shall have membership in only one branch in which all his certificates must be handled. ARTICLE VIII BENEFICIARIES Eligibility — Estate — Changes Lost Certificates 75. Each member of the Federation and holder of a beneficiary certificate shall, in the applica­tion for such beneficiary certificate, designate by name the person or persons to whom the benefits shall be paid. Said member shall have complete freedom in the selection of his beneficiary except in those states where this is limited by law. 76. In the event the designated beneficiary or beneficiaries die, or for any reason be disqualified, and no further designation is made by the mem­ber during his lifetime, the benefits so provided shall be payable to the estate of the member. In case of necessity, the Controller is author­ized to advance the burial expenses of the deceased — 39 — member up to the net proceeds of the benefit upon presentation of certified bills. The balance of the death benefit will be paid according to the last will of the member. 77. A member is entitled to change his bene­ficiaries upon reporting his request to the branch, signing such request in the presence of one offi­cial of the branch or a notary public, sending the same, with his original certificate, to the Secretary of the Federation. The change of beneficiary shall be effective upon signing of such request which should be mailed to the Secretary of the Federa­tion who affixes the change to the certificate. 78. The beneficiary has no right which could not be changed by the member during his life­time. Therefore, it may never become the duty of the Federation to order any examination of the physical or mental capacities of the member de­siring to change his beneficiary, or to accept any responsibility for the same. When the member desiring to change his beneficiary has been legally adjudged insane and a certified copy of such judgment or decree has been furnished to the office of the Secretary of the Federation, such member cannot ask for change of beneficiary. 79. In case a member has lost his certificate or if a certificate comes into the possession of any unauthorized person who refuses to part with it, the member desiring to change his beneficiary must attach to his petition for this change an — 40 — FRATERNITY
