Upon question, the Legal Counsellor informed the Convention that any accredited member — thus advisory members also — is eligible for this position. The Convention preferred a secret ballot. Mr. John Nagy asked that all secret ballots be destroyed after the election. The Convention decided that a plurality of votes will suffice. The President appointed Judge Fiók and Dr. Horváth as tellers. THE SECRET BALLOT SHOWED THE FOLLOWING RESULTS: TOTAL VOTES CAST: 69, OF WHICH REV. SZŐKE RECEIVED 45, MR. SZABÓ 19, MR. CZIKAY 5. THE PRESIDENT DECLARED REV. SZŐKE ELECTED. 52. The Secretary announced that the members of the Convention will meet Thursday morning at 9:15 A. M. at the Kossuth House where a picture will be taken and awards will be distributed. 53. The President recessed the Convention at 10:50 A. M. until further notice. The meeting of the fourth day was preceded by picture-taking in front of the Kossuth House. 55. Members of the Convention returned to the Motor Hotel where Rev. Bacsó led the Convention in the morning devotions at 10:58 A. M. 56. The plenary session of the fourth day was opened by the President at 11:08 A. M. 57. The President welcomed Mr. Elmer Charles, President of the William Penn Fraternal Association, expressing his joy over the fact that he was able to welcome in the person of Mr. Charles a Reformed brother and the chief elder of a Reformed congregation. 58. Mr. Charles stated in his address that he was returning President Borshy’s visit and kind greetings to their Convention. He expressed his hope that until his dream would become true and all would unite in one big family under the banner of the fraternal idea, there would be a close cooperation between the two organizations, thus manifesting the vigor of Hungarians in this country and working for the good of our brethren in the old country.
