Volume XLI MAY 1963 Number 5 JOSEPH KECSKEMETHY: ITEMS OF INTEREST EMINENT HUNGARIANS HONORED The third annual George Washington Awards Dinner of the American Hungarian Studies Foundation was held on May first in the Waldorf- Astoria, New York City. The participants, numbering 300, honored Dr. Frederick H. Burkhardt, Mr. Stevan Dohanos and Dr. Edward Teller, noted author-scholar, artist and scientist, respectively. Dr. David D. Denker, director of the Greater University Fund and assistant to the President of Rutgers University, acted as toastmaster for the evening. The Rt. Reverend Zoltán Beky, one of the vice presidents of our Federation, gave the invocation. During the course of the eve­ning, Dr. Denker called on the following speakers: Dr. A. L. Gabriel, vice president of the American Hungarian Studies Foundation and director of the Mediaeval Institute at the University of Notre Dame; Mr. Herman Steinkraus, president of the American Association for the United Nations and former chairman of the board of the Bridge­port Brass Company; and Dr. T. F. Walkowicz, a member of the staff of Laurence S. Rockefeller and consultant to the USAF Scientific Board. Dr. Gabriel paid tribute to Dr. Burkhardt, Mr. Steinkraus to Mr. Dohanos, and Dr. Walkowicz rendered honor to Dr. Teller. After the three speakers enu­merated the outstanding achievements of the honored guests in their respective fields, Professor August J. Molnár of Rutgers, president of the American Hungarian Studies Foundation, pre­sented the award medallions to each of them with the following citations: Dr. Frederick H. Burkhardt
