HOW TO LIVE 100 YEARS HAPPILY

Extract from an address by Dr. John A. Schindler, Monroe, Michigan.

1. Quit looking for a knock in your human motor — if you look for a pain, it will probably appear.

2. Learn to like work — you can learn to like it so much it becomes as invigorating as dancing.

3. Get yourself a hobby — it will take your mind off work tension.

4. Learn to like people — you have to live with them, you may as well like them.

5. Learn to be satisfied — it’s just as easy as being dissatisfied and much more pleasant.

6. Learn to accept adversity — no matter who you are, you are going to meet some.

7. Get in the habit of saying pleasant things and get out of the habit of saying anything mean.

8. Learn to meet your problems with decision. If you can’t find a solution, quit thinking about it

9. Live the present moment to the hilt; don’t live the past or the future.

Of course, the table cannot be used as a final guide. No two families are alike. The small family free from debt may safely pay out more per month than the large family with many dependents, or the family already paying for an automobile, appliances or furniture on the instalment plan.

How many families are in the nonrisky categories and how many in the risky? FHA records show that 95% are in the safe or reasonably safe classes, and only 5% in the risky class.

A KÉT TESTVÉR EGYÜTTMUNKÁLKODÁSA CANTON, OHIO

Nem a kínai kikötővárosról, hanem az ohioi Can- tonról van szó. Arról a városról, hol hazánk 25-ik elnöke, McKinley, lakott, ahol a McKinley National Memorial van. A volt elnökön kívül magyarok is laknak Canton, Ohioban, jó szivü, hivő magyarok. A cantoni magyarok voltak azok, kik az amerikai magyarok közül, számarányukhoz képest, a legtöbbet ajándékoztak az Amerikai Magyar Segélyakcióra.

Az itt lakó magyar testvérek életében áldóan munkálkodik együtt a hit és testvérszeretet közössége, Egyház és Egyesület. Előbb az Egyesület osztálya gyűjtötte össze a magyarokat, azután alakult meg 35 évvel ezelőtt az Egyház. A két testvér együttmunkálkodásának bizonysága az is, hogy az egyháztagok 95 százaléka egy- szersmint egyesületi tag is. Négyszázan felül van itt Református Egyesületünk tagjainak száma Szabó András derék ügykezelőnk vezetése és gondozása alatt. Abból az alkalomból mondjuk el ezeket, hogy a cantoni református egyház 35 éves jubileumát tartotta. A jubileumra teljesen önállóvá lett az egyház és szép birtokán levő adósságot is kifizette, sőt tervei is készen vannak arra, hogy a közel jövőben egyháztársadalmi épületet emelnek. Az egyháznak Nt. Dókus Gábor volt 25 éven át pásztora, az utóbbi tiz év alatt pedig Lelkészegyesületünk elnöke, Nt. Nagy Ferenc áldásos pásztorkodása alatt teljesiti hivatását az egyház.
