TESTVÉRISÉG 9 “WARM THANKS” FROM THE TREASURY DEPARTMENT — To all officers and members — Reverend George E. K. Borshy Secretary Hungarian Reformed Federation of America 1726 Pennsylvania Avenue, N. W. Washington 6, D. C. My dear Mr. Borshy: This is to convey the warm thanks of the Treasury Department to the officers and members of your great organization who, as volunteers in the recent Security Loan campaign, helped sell $32,798,183,000 in U. S. Savings Bonds, the official total just announced by Secretary Snyder. In these days when we are all so keenly concerned with checking price inflation and stabilizing the economy of the nation, the siphoning off of such a sum from the money supply into Savings Bonds is just that much of a gain in our common fight. The investment of $1,136,023,000 in Series E bonds by individuals is a most significant result of the campaign. But the success of the Security Loan goes beyond immediate dollar figures. It added some 2,000 firms and 2,500,000 wage and salary earners to the Payroll Savings lists, and many thousands of bank depositors to the Bond-A- Month plan. This large group of new, regular buyers, by diverting a part of their spending into savings will exert a continuing, beneficial effect upon the economy through building up future purchasing power. The Security Loan accomplishment in the face of rising living costs is splendid testimony to the good citizenship, sound thinking and vigorous, patriotic service of the volunteers to whom the real credit must go. Secretary Snyder and I would greatly appreciate your conveying the hearty thanks and appreciation of the Treasury Department through your official publication to all your officers and members who helped make the campaign succeed as it did. Sincerely, (signed) Vernon L. Clark National Director U. S. Savings Bond Division MAN'S WRATH — GOD'S GLORY “Surely the wrath of man shall praise Thee: the remainder of wrath shalt Thou restrain”, says the Psalmist. Herein lies the answer why God allows the temporary rule of wickedness in the world. The anger of the evil doers we must endure as the badge of our calling; the token of our separation irom them: if we were of the world, the world would love its own. Our comfort is that the wrath of man shall be made to increase the glory of God. When in their wrath the wicked crucified the Son of God, they were unwittingly fulfilling the divine purpose, and in a thousand cases the wilfulness of the ungodly is doing the same. They think themselves free, but like convicts in chains, they are unconsciously working out the decrees of the Almighty. The devices of the wicked are overruled for their defeat. Hitler is not the only one we may mention; his partners in evil will follow him. It is doubtless that they may still cause a lot of misery, but they will be unable to destry the souls of those that belong to the Lord. In this we have the promise of the new world and the victory of God. Meanwhile, the Lord has a muzzle and a chain for the blood-thirsty bears. They may roar, howl and rage: the end of the chain is in the hand of God! A. D. "FOR THE PROMPT ACTION" Republic, Pa. The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, Washington, D. C.
