end of the period mentioned. It is also typical that the number of infant-deaths decreased from 2,200 to 570 in 45 years, while the number of child-deaths reduced to an even greater extent, from 994 to 194. Apart from that, the reasons of infant-deaths changed: while in the first years the symptomatic causes of death made up for three quarters of whole mortality, this rate reduced to 50% at the end of the period, at the same time the rate of organic diseases increased from 29% to 43%.We can notice a similar tendency in child-death, but contagious diseases such as tuberculosis play a more important role here. Attila Major Electrification in the village of Tolna In his study the writer presents the circumstances of the creation of the electricity works in Tolna and 15 years of its operation. The author shows the expansion of electric energy at the turn of the 19-20 th centuries and its spreading in Hungary as well. That is the period when electricity stations were founded in towns and villages of the country. The construction and actuation of the electricity works caused several difficulties in Tolna. Besides the lack of proper financial background and skillful staff, the failure of equipment brought on more problems. With the help of this study we can get to know the history of the electricity works of Tolna, from 1911-1927, until the period, when it joined the transmission line-network of the power station in Mázaszászvár.
