During the period between 1980 and 1985 in 108 cases through a corneal in further 95 cases through a scleral incision peripheral iridectomy was performed in the Second Eye Department of the University Medical School, Budapest, and the results were evaluated.

According to the data in case of peripheral iridectomy performed through a corneal incision the number of complications as well as of a later cataract development was significantly lower than in cases with scleral incision.

According to the results peripheral iridectomy performed through a corneal incision is recommended after glaucomatous attack (in case of a reopened angle) and as a preventive procedure. The advantages of peripheral iridectomy made through a corneal incision are as follows: a simple technique; the number of operative and postoperative complications is low; it is in case of adequate indication of a high efficacity; it does not impede a possible perforating surgical intervention on the eye in a later period.

Bewertet werden die an der II. Augenklinik der Medizinischen Universität Semmelweis, Budapest zwischen 1980 und 1985 in 108 Fällen durch die Kornealwunde und in 95 Fällen durch die Skleralwunde durchgeführten basalen Iridektomien.

Im Laufe der durch die Kornealwunde durchgeführten basalen Iridektomien waren sowohl die Zahl der Operationskomplikationen, als auch die Zahl der Fälle, in denen sich später ein Glaukom entwickelte, signifikant niedriger als nach den durch die Skleralwunde vorgenommenen basalen Iridektomien.

Aufgrund der Ergebnisse wird die Durchführung der basalen Iridektomie durch die Kornealwunde nach Glaukomanfällen (im Falle eines geöffneten Winkels) und auch als präventive Operation empfohlen. Die Vorteile der durch die Skleralwunde durchgeführten basalen Iridektomie sind wie folgt: Der Eingriff ist technisch einfach, die Zahl der intra- und postoperativen Komplikationen liegt niedrig, der Wirkungsgrad ist (im Falle einer entsprechenden Indikation) gut, eventuelle spätere bulbusöffnende Operationen werden durch den Eingriff nicht erschwert.
