(Üvegtest-előesés 17‘6%, prolapsus iridis 40%.) Mindazonáltal nem ítéli el a műtétet, hanem rámutat arra, hogy Smith fényes eredményei valószínűleg racebeli különbségeken alapulnak. Az „expressio lentis“-t szerinte csakis iridectomiával lehet végeznünk. Eklektikusán sikerrel használható. Smithnek a múlt évben megjelent 121 lapra terjedő könyvéről Hirschbeig referált a Centralblatt für prakt. Augenheilkunde februári számában. Bár nem mond határozott véleményt az operatióról, mindazonáltal kitűnik a referátumból, hogy számos ellenvetése és kifogása van ellene. Általában a nagy német szemészeti tekintélyek, úgy látszik, nem tartják érdemesnek az intracapsularis hályogműtéttel való foglalkozást, annyira lehetetlennek tűnik fel az előttük. Irodalom.
