The bride did not even boast of a Hungarian noble title. Her ignorance of the Hungarian language left no more trace in the surviving opinions than the fact that she came from outside the Kingdom of Hungary. The reason why public opinion appreciated (indeed, welcomed) the Baron’s marriage was that it appeared as a triumph over physical weakness; a sign of mental fortitude instead of collapse, one that can best be grasped in the foundation of a family and the fathering of offsprings. What did shock the public, however, was the second marriage of Anna Lux after the death of the Baron.
