A TÖRTÉNETTUDOMÁNY MINDENKOR VEZETő FOLYóIRATÁNAK KÖSZÖNTÉSE 10 WELCOME ADDRESS by György Hunyady SUMMARY In his opening address, the president of the Historical and Philosophical Department of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences praised the one-and-a-half-century-long history of Századok. The all-time leading review of the Hungarian historical science, it has reflected the institutionalisation of the historical profession, the formation of the criteria of high-quality scholarly publication, and the changing composition of the contributing scholars. While the perspectives raised by the spread of electronic scholarly communication are not exclusively positive, all efforts made in order to maintain a professional organ that speaks about the national past in the national tongue are highly justified.
