A MAGYARORSZÁGI HOLOKAUSZT HETVEN ÉV TÁVLALÁBÓL - Karsai László: A holokausztról szóló információk a magyar sajtóban, 1941-1944 VI/1365

1374 KARSAI LÁSZLÓ internal reports of the Hungarian News Agency (MTI), only available for a rather narrow circle, are analysed. Based on these sources, the study concludes that it is not only the political elite (from governor Miklós Horthy through the ministers and secretaries of state to the leading diplomats) which was very probably aware of the fact from 1941-1942 that the Nazis had set about the systematic extermination of the European Jewry, but also those most exposed to this threat, the Jews themselves. It was was not information that was lacking, but the ability and the will to assess correctly what did come through the press on the holocaust and draw the only possible conclusion: flee before it is too late.
