TANULMÁNYOK - Sz. Simon Éva: Névlegesen birtokolt szandzsákbégi hászok a 16. századi oszmán terjeszkedés szolgálatában (Gondolatok a ber vedzsh-i tahmin szisztéma működésének értelmezéséhez) VI/1351
1406 SZ. SIMON EVA possessions of the borderland sandjakbeys always depended on the given historical situation. The system assumed different aspects in periods of war and „peace", but changed also within the time of existence of any given sandjak. This conclusion is underpinned by the figures showing the distribution of the proportions of nominally registered has possessions in time and space. Another important point is that whereas before 1568/70 many of these possessions had a predominantly financial function, in the „peaceful" period following the peace of Edirne the strategic location of such settlements increased their role in expansion and conquest. In the case of Western Transdanubia the maps illustrate well the line of „offensive has possessions" throughout the existence of several sandjaks, and exactly along the most important military directions. This leads to the conclusion that the owners of this type of sandjak-bey has possessions may have had a leading role in determining the directions of expansion. An important transformation was caused by the the emergence by the late 1570s and the early 1580s of a modern defensive system by the Habsburgs. This undermined, both in the sandjak of Szigetvár and in the whole borderland, the existence of the offensive has possessions, and put an end in the history of the vilayet of Buda to the period of „peaceful" expansion directed by the sandjaks. \
