Varga Emese: A Szamosszegi falvédőgyűjtemény bemutatása

During the field research made within SAMCULT project we discovered a valuable (as number and artistic point of view) and fantastic wall textiles. The collection belongs to Mrs. Bacskó Lajosné from Szamosszeg. The wall textiles art was fashionable one during the beginning of the XX th century both in Hungary and Romania. The pieces are made by fine, white canvas and are embroided in different colours with different themes. The most beloved themes were: the blessings, the religious one, scenes with gypsy musicians. The chromatic is also different: some of the pieces are monochromatic, others are dichromatic and a few polychromatic. The collection its self is a treasury that tell us about a faded world, the world of our grandmothers, and a world in which the house, the family means the whole universe.
