Apa. The Orthodox Church of “The Descent of the Holy Spirit”

The church was built between 1848 and 1863. The architecture is influenced by the baroque style, a frequent phenomenon at ecclesiastical constructions built during the 19th century. The tower was restored, in 1905, but due to the technical problems it had to be demolished and then rebuilt. The old wall-paintings, in Byzantine style, were restored in 1927. The iconostasis comprises several registers of icons painted on wood, representing themes of the Byzantine canon: the Last Supper, Jesus Christ, Holy Virgin, the Prophets, the Apostles, St. Nicholas, the Annunciation, the Miraculous Fishing, the Expulsion of Adam from Eden, Jesus and the Samaritan Woman. Apa. Biserica reformată

Despre biserica medievală a localităţii nu există prea multe informaţii. Edificiul poate fi una dintre cele şapte biserici a căror construcţie a fost finanţată de Susana Báthori în secolul al XV-lea. împreună cu majoritatea lăcaşelor de cult din regiune, biserica din Apa a devenit reformată în secolul al XVI-lea. Construcţia turnului impunător este plasată de inscripţia din biserică în anul 1640, însă unii cercetători tind să dateze începuturile acestei părţi a edificiului în perioada goticului. Impresia de monumentalitate pe care o lasă turnul este susţinută de disproporţia dintre dimensiunile faţadei şi cele patru ferestre minuscule situate în partea superioară a acestuia. Timpanul situat deasupra intrării în biserică datează din perioada construcţiei edificiului actual, încadrându-se din punct de vedere stilistic în Renaşterea târzie. Ancadramentul uşii
