during the middle Neolithic Age, probably because it was easy to work the sandy land at the foot of the dunes with primitive tools. The specific pottery of this period, with black or red painting, and stone tools (axes, knives, arrowheads) too, were found at various sites, located on the territory of Ciumeşti: Ciumeşti-Bostănărie (Melon Field), Ciumeşti-La silozuri (at the Silos), Berea-Stavila Mare (The big dam), Berea-Togul Sultész, Berea-Togul Dolarului, Berea-Colina cu măcriş (The sour dock hill), Berea-Platoul Acastăului, Berea-Mijlocul Viilor (the middle of the Vineyards), Berea-Capătul sudic a satului (The southern end of the village), Berea- Grădina florilor (The flowers garden), Berea-Tagul Sfântul Gheorghe, Berea-Togul Evreului, Berea-La Soci (At the elders). The area of Ciumeşti and Berea was intensely populated during the Copper Age too, when, due to the increasing role of the husbandry, the human communities had a higher mobility. Thus, four settlements are known in Berea from the period of the Tiszapolgár Culture, while an intact vessel was discovered at an unknown point on the territory of Ciumeşti, representing, probably, a piece of a funeral inventory. A cemetery of the Bodrogkeresztur Culture and traces of four settlements (one in Ciumeşti and three in Berea) were identified here, too.
