made because of the damages of the earthquake of 1834. The former wall that surrounded the church may have been built in the Middle Ages, too. The wooden bell-tower on the western side of the nave was built in 1831 and it is now being used as an en­trance hall. The Roman Catholic Church “King St. Stephen” of Ciumeşti was built in 1815. At this time, the vil­lage did not have its own parish, the community being the filia of the Foieni parish and later on of the Sanislău one. In less than 15 years from set­ting up the parish of Ciumeşti (1840), the church was rebuilt, thus achieving its present outlook.
