made because of the damages of the earthquake of 1834. The former wall that surrounded the church may have been built in the Middle Ages, too. The wooden bell-tower on the western side of the nave was built in 1831 and it is now being used as an entrance hall.

The Roman Catholic Church “King St. Stephen” of Ciumeşti was built in 1815. At this time, the village did not have its own parish, the community being the filia of the Foieni parish and later on of the Sanislău one. In less than 15 years from setting up the parish of Ciumeşti (1840), the church was rebuilt, thus achieving its present outlook.
