Casă tradiţională din Ciumeşti Hagyományos ház Csomaközön Traditional house at Ciumeşti by all the families which had estates here, and each of them built a manor house in the village. Thus, during the early 20th century, there were three large noble manor houses in Ciumeşti and a castle be­longing to the Dégenfeld family. During 1918, the new border between Romania and Hungary was drawn up very closely to the vil­lage, transforming Ciumeşti into a locality with a peripheral position within the state. The economy of the village, based on agriculture, continued to develop harmoniously during the inter-war period, because most of the village agricultural land re­mained in the ownership of the Ciumeşti residents.
