Thus, during the early 20th century, there were three large noble manor houses in Ciumeşti and a castle belonging to the Dégenfeld family. During 1918, the new border between Romania and Hungary was drawn up very closely to the village, transforming Ciumeşti into a locality with a peripheral position within the state. The economy of the village, based on agriculture, continued to develop harmoniously during the inter-war period, because most of the village agricultural land remained in the ownership of the Ciumeşti residents.
