the daub or brick ones, but they resisted better and even their dismantling was quite an effort. The differences of the construction materials are visible only in the case of the damaged houses, otherwise they were similar in the outside aspect with the ones made of brick - they had a porch along them and identical structure. A great number of traditions kept in Căpleni are linked to turn points of the human life. Among them, a specific group of customs is related to the marriage: lyrics, wedding mass and wedding party. All the stages of the marriage, the civil wedding, the church wedding and the wedding party, have their own specific with traditional texts. One custom is “the opening” of the bride that takes place at the wedding party. The bride and the wedding guests are allowed to enter the room after they pay the customs duty. The godparents have to pay a customs duty to the children on their way to the church. In Căpleni, the chef is responsible for the entertainment of the wedding guests, not the best man. The menu is introduced with cheerful poems, sometimes with rather bold rhymes. The boiled meat is recommended as follows: “I brought the cock with slough so it won’t jump over the neighbor s hen This cock is a colt he’s made a hole on the bride, and the groom has sworn to take care of that hole until he dies” Case din Căpleni Kaplonyi házak Houses of Căpleni 39
