Archaeological vestiges

settlements can be distinguished in the area. A large settlement was discovered in the Vineyards area, near the road connecting Cămin and Urziceni. This settlement stretched on the western terrace of the Papírgyárpataka Brook, over a length of approximately 1 km. The brook, now channeled, had a large and marshy valley in the Antiquity, with terraces suitable for farming and meadows used for grazing. Another area, favorable for dwelling, was the terrace of the former Ecedea Swamp. Discoveries dating to the Roman period were found in the area of the Crasna bridge. The geographic conditions were similar to those of Papírgyárpataka Brook Valley, the terrace of the marshland offered good terrain for farming while the marshland itself was suitable for grazing. A special type of habitat can be observed on the banks, “islands”, of the swamps. The settlements of these heights were accessible only by boat, during the most of the year, thus they were protected naturally. The discoveries of Roman period and the migration era were made through surface researches on the territory of Cămin Commune, there were no archaeological excavations performed at all. The ceramic fragments with curled up belt indicate the presence of the free Dacians, but other fragments indicate a German population in the area. It is very likely that the historical evolution of Cămin Commune fits within the general Strachină eneolitică de la Cămin-Podul Crasnei Rézkori tál Kálmánd-Kraszna híd lelőhelyről Eneolitic bowl discovered at Cămin-Podul Crasnei site Podoabă de aur eneolitic de la Cămin-Podul Crasnei Rézkori aranyékszer Kálmánd-Kraszna híd lelőhelyről Eneolitic golden jewelry discovered at Cămin-Podul Crasnei site 9
