Introduction - Einleitung
INTRODUCTION The rich historical heritage of the two former county seats still preserves its importance in the region. Historical events of the 20th century provided unfavourable conditions for development. The continuous changing of the borders pushed both localities towards the periphery, therefore the development of the region stopped. Cross-border relations helped to re-launch the cooperation in the region. Cultural connections strengthened the cross-border relations and the common past was the starting point of the common project implemented by the County Museum of Satu Mare and the Museum Department of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County. The project proposed to realize historical interiors exhibitions in the Mudrány Mansion of Szabolcs, the location where the short story Ebéd (The table) written by the Hungarian writer Móricz Zsigmond took place, and in the Károlyi castle of Carei, the ancient cradle of the family. The project is called Castellum and runs within the Hungary-Romania Cross-border Cooperation Program 2007-2013, financed by the European Union and from the budget of the two states. The exhibitions of historical interiors installed within the project try to restore the historical atmosphere of the two buildings, monuments of architecture, and presents the daily life of the former inhabitants. On the both sides, the offers for visitors are completed with exhibitions on local history. Thus, using the possibilities offered by the show-space, the local history exhibition of Carei presents archaeological discoveries, works of religious art, and crafts practiced in town alongside the classical historical topics. Besides this, the broader objective of the project is to integrate the exhibitions of the Castellum and the two monuments in the tourist circuit of the region. With this publication, we wish to address to the tourists interested in visiting places filled with history, and to provide information on the monuments that are worth visiting in the region. Consequently, we invite you, dear readers, on a trip from Szabolcs to Carei. The proposed route can be done roundtrip, or partial, but in all cases, all travellers are welcome in the deep historical atmosphere of Satu Mare and Szabolcs. EINLEITUNG Das Kulturerbe der ehemaligen Kreisstädte spielt noch heute eine bedeutende Rolle in der Region. Die geschichtlichen Ereignisse des 20. Jahrhunderts behandelten etwas stiefkindlich diese Gegend, welche wegen der mehrmaligen Umgestaltung der Grenzen an die Peripherie gelangte, ihre Entwicklung ist stehen geblieben. In den letzten Jahrzehnten haben die grenzüberschreitenden Beziehungen diese Region von diesem Totpunkt weggerückt. Die Verbindungsfäden des Kulturerbes bilden eine natürliche Basis zur Verstärkung und Vertiefung der Beziehungen zwischen den an der Grenze gelegenen Ortschaften, diese gemeinsame Geschichte bildete den Ausgangspunkt des Projektes des Bezirksmuseums Sathmar und des Bezirksmuseums Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg. Die Hauptaktivität des Projektes besteht in Veranstaltung von historischen Interieur-Ausstellungen im Landhaus Mudrányi in Szabolcs, wo die Handlung der großartigen Novelle „Ebéd“ (Mittagessen) von Móricz Zsigmond spielt, und im Schloss Károlyi in Großkarol, im Stammschloss der Grafenfamilie. Das Projekt bekam den Namen Castellum und ist mit Unterstützung der Europäischen Union im Rahmen des grenzübergreifenden Kooperationsprogramms Ungarn-Rumänien 2007-2013 zustande gekommen. Die im Rahmen des Projektes organisierten Ausstellungen wurden aber auch aus dem Staatshaushalt der oben genannten Länder finanziert. Die im Rahmen des Projektes verwirklichten historischen Interieur-Ausstellungen versuchen die ehemalige Atmosphäre beider Denkmalgebäude wiederzugeben, Erinnerungen an das ehemalige Alltagsleben der Schlossbewohner wachrufend. An beiden Stätten sind die Sehenswürdigkeiten mit lokalhistorischen Ausstellungen ergänzt. Dank der vorhandenen räumlichen Gegebenheiten, stellen die in Großkarol veranstalteten Ausstellungen neben der historischen Thematik, archäologische Funde, kirchliche (Kunst)Gegenstände und einige Gegenstände des örtlichen Handwerks dar. Ein weiteres Ziel des Projekts Castellum ist die Einbeziehung der Ausstellungen und dieser Denkmälergebäude in den touristischen Kreislauf der Region, durch Vorbereitung und Verbreitung von Informationsmaterialien für alle Liebhaber des Kulturtourismus. So laden wir Sie, liebe Leser und Leserinnen, herzlich zu einer Reise von Szabolcs nach Großkarol ein. Sicher kann man diese gebotene Reiseroute auch umgekehrt oder sogar nur teilweise bereisen.
