2. Session/Séance: Rastas, Cooperation between the Nordic and Baltic Countries

The Baltic countries should be involved in the Unesco and ICA development programs. The creation and developing of an archival infrastructure should also be supported financially; the Baltic countries should also get aid for participation in international meetings. The Nordic countries are prepared to participate in such a development process. ICA has arranged two meetings on the modernization of Central European archives, with participants from Bulgaria, Hungaria, Poland, the Slovak republic and the Czech republic. The problems and development requirements seem to be quite similar in the Baltic countries. These countries have considered an evalution by the international archival community as vital and it is, therefore, necessary that similar development meetings are also arranged for the Baltic archival institutions.
