The Holy Spirit makes us, just like the disciples at the very first Pentecost, enthusiastic and takes us into a richer world where we may experience wonderful things. However, we may not be aware of the positive, or even negative, aspects of our referring to the Spirit or of our enthusiasm. The study first clarifies the concept of enthusiasm; then presents three categories in which reference to the Spirit is made and enthusiasm occurs, that is, dimensions of the divine, the human and the demonic. The author’s purpose is to call our attention to the fact that by referring to the Holy Spirit we may gain rich blessings or may slide astray. For as the Lord Jesus said, not everyone who says, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 7:21), and not everyone who pridefully refers to the Holy Spirit, is actually filled with the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a wonderful Spirit. But as much as we should desire the Spirit, we should also protect the Spirit. Therefore it is the task of the church to examine the spirits, so that only the pure and the true spiritual influences are to prevail. 52 Sárospataki Füzetek 2010/3
