Angol nyelvű összefoglaló

Workers' councils were still in action as the new power needed them for a while. These councils managed to get workers to resume work. On 12th November the town Council Executive Committee held a meeting and made steps towards stabilization. On 14th November the President of the County Council's Executive Committee suspended by his authority all kinds of activities of the national committees in the country. On 16th November the Secretary and the vice-president of the town Council Executive Committees resigned. It was also demanded by demonstrators in October but they forgot it in the speedy flood of events. Now it was a surprise for the members of the executive committee. Soviet patrolling ceased, the police and the Hungarian army did it instead. But soviet armoured vehicles were still in the streets. On 24th November the leadership of the county Council resigned. During November the leaders of the revolution were arrested and taken away from factories first. People chose passive resistance against the new regime. The soviet leadership could not have a good harvest. The new regime had no social base. There were 752 party members registrated at the beginning ol December. In the conference ol 1st December - initiated by the soviet commander of the town - directors of factories and commercial units were talking about the lame social life in the town. Committees, organizations formed during the revolution and ceased when the intervention came, were reorganized. There were demonstrations, commemorations (e.g. the demonstration of women on 7th December at Heroes Monument). People kept the recent events of the revolution in their memory. The government was hostile to the achievements of the revolution. In a decree of 8th December then dissolved all the organizations of the revolution, entered summary justice which was used by military courts. On 13th December they ordered internment and a ban on demonstrations. In the meeting of 12th December István Tilinger a bricklayer got the post of the former president. The year of 1957 also began with arrests. The members and leaders of the most significant revolutionary organizations were arrested first, but the arrests lasted till the end of July throughout the county.
