Accordion and gramophone record: Marnitz The Marnitz Company became known by music-lovers first and foremost for their distribution of accordions. Mihály Tabányi, winner of the Accordion Olympic, was among the most important soloists and bandleaders in the subsequent decades. The Marnitz Company studio survived the Second World War rela tively intact. The sound recordings were sold on the Darling Mesterhang! labels. The company also had a profitable sideline "your own voice, take it home". Katalin Karády Secretive, mysterious, beastly - these are just a few of the descriptions that Katalin Karády received right from her first appearance. From 1938 she was treated as a star due to her emerging theatrical, film and gramophone record career, thanks (to a great extent) to support of the media. She took the lead role in 24 films between her 1939 film Halálos tavasz (Deathly spring) and the 1948 Forró mezők (Hot fields). Songs from these films provide the majority of her gramophone record repertoire. Not surprisingly the re-release of Katalin Karády's first LP in 1979 started a wave of nostalgia in Hungary. Recordings of all her performances have subsequently been issued in a box set of six CDs. 57 MÉRT SZERETLEK UGY. Mert *zeretlek ugy, ahogy még senki máit, Mert nem hiszed |J a legszebb vallomást ?
