Kiss Ákos: A földesúri korcsmáltatási jogok hasznosítása, vendéglátás az egykori budakörnyéki (Tinnye-Uny-Jászfalui) közbirtokosságnál

AKOS KISS UTILIZATION OF PUBLICAN S LICENCES OF LANDOWNERS AND ENTERTAINMENT BY THE COMMONAGE IN THE FORMER ENVIRONS OF BUDA (TINNYE— UNY—JASZFALU) On the basis of the landowners' rights of the commonage (Compossessoratus) of Tinnye —Uny —Jászfalu Miskey the essay tries to throw light upon the nobleman's licensing in the feudal age and through it introduces tne branch of the catering trade in the 18th and 19th centuries that had existed in the Hungarian village for centuries and established the characteristic Hungarian inn and country tavern. The country inn coming from the landowner's right to retail wine had just been one of the main causes of the joint tenant's way of life on the basis of the development of collective farming of the lesser nobility in respect of its usufructs. In the period of feudalism the landowner had his wine sold in a monopolistic way by the right of his privileges, while the tax-payers (serfs and cottars) were allowed to sell their wine amidst very strong restrictions. Thus this situation also had become one of the sources of conflicts between the landlord and his people. As the road from Buda to Vienna went through the territory of the commonage of Tinnye the inn called "Dry Branch", originally "apud viridem arbovem" was erected along the road in Jáspfalu. the Hungarian steppe, the daily life and management of which we managed to find out fully. A charactestic feature of the life of the famous inn was that it was influenced by the world of highwaymen and its running was affected by the lack of public safety characteristic of feudal times. In critical times the inns used to be the places of administration, thus in the time of Napoleon and during the cholera epidemic in 1831. It is characteristic of the importance of the feudal catering trade that in 1847 a nice hotel-inn having more than one storey was to be built. This significant building of classic style of which the plan also has been left to us, could not be established because of the events in 1848. We receive a certain idea of the everyday life of these inns too; young bullying rude noblemen also had often made staying there dangerous. Following the war of independence of 1848/49 the time of genera] and proportionate sharing in taxation came, the landowner's regalia (the rights of licensing, butchery, mill, etc.) still remained for a while. The licensing rights of the commonage were commuted by an act from 1888 in return for serious countervalue and these profits having ceased the commonage was dissolved. Thus just the capitalistic transformation of the inn civilization was the cause of the liquidation of the compossessoratus organizations. The beautiful and well-shaped Baroque building of the "Dry Branch". Inn was unfortunately destroyed in the recent past. The second part of 214
