FERENCZI ISTVÁN (1921 - 2000) VALLOMÁS A MAGYAR NYELV TUDOMÁNYOS ÍRÁSOKBAN VALÓ HASZNÁLATÁRÓL Részlet Ferenczi István doktori értekezése előszavából - 1947 Abstract: [About using hungarian language in scientific publications] The présent publication is a fragment from the doctoral dissertation of the well-known arhaeologist from Cluj, István FERENCZI (1921-2000), defended in 1947 at Bolyai University. The author (distinguished with the title of doctor honoris causa of the University Janus Pannonius from Pécs in 1996) published numerous precious writings about the early Middle Ages of Transylvania. In this fragment he points out the importance of using an elaborate language in the scientific publications, emphasizes the expressive power, the conciseness and the elegancy of the old grammatical structures of the hungarian language. At the same time he disapproves the excessive and abusive use of foreign expressions. The editors included these two shorter writings in the présent volume (see also the chapter History - Archeology) for commemorating this illustrious scientist's memory, who passed away five years ago. Rezumat: [Despre folosirea limbii maghiare în lucrările ştiinţifice] Articolul prezent este un fragment din teza de doctorat a binecunoscutului arheolog clujean FERENCZI István (19212000), susţinută în 1947 la Universitatea Bolyai. Autorul (distins şi cu titlul de doctor honoris causa al Universităţii Janus Pannonius din Pécs în 1996) a publicat numeroase lucrări valoroase care abordează perioada evului mediu timpuriu în Transilvanania. In acest fragment relevă importanţa folosirii unui limbaj îngrijit în lucrările ştiinţifice, scoate în relief forţa expresivă, conciziunea şi eleganţa vechilor structuri gramaticale ale limbii maghiare, în acelaşi timp dezaprobă utilizarea excesivă şi abuzivă a termenilor străini. Redactorii au inclus în volum aceste două scrieri mai mărunte (a se vedea şi capitolul Istorie - Arheologie) pentru comemorarea amintirii ilustrului savant dispărut în urmă cu cinci ani. [...] Munkánk kezdetekor még egyre szeretném figyelmeztetni az Olvasót. Kis ismertetésem nyelve első pillantásra idegenség-érzetet ébreszthet. Védelmére a következőket mondhatom. Egykori Református Kollégium-beli kedves magyar nyelvi tanáraim: BRÜLL Emánuel, FlNTA Gerő, JANCSÓ Elemér és BALÁZS lános - számunkra, éretlen növendékek számára sokszor elviselhetetlennek s ugyanazért értelmetlennek is tűnő - a tiszta, gaztól mentes magyar beszéd, fogalmazás és helyesírás érdekében szigorú, módszeres, de a nyelv szeretetéből fakadó nevelése mélyebb nyomot hagyott lelkemben. Ez akkor még Édesapám (FERENCZI Sándor történész - szerk. megj.) hasonló felfogása s ösztönzése ellenére sem vált tudatossá elmémben. Jóval később, az időtlen idők óta élő ősi ösztön - villámok felvillanó fényének erősségéhez hasonló ilyen vagy amolyan irányú - tudatossá válásának pillanatában, tisztult el bensőmben az efelett súlyosan-sötéten terpeszkedő homályosság.
