MŰHELY - G. Lászay Judit: A soponyai volt Zichy-kastély kutatása

Judit LÁSZAY THE ARCHITECTURAL HISTORICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE FORMER ZICHY MANSION AT SOPONYA In the earlier Nagyláng-puszta, that is today part of the village of Soponya is standing the mansion of the Zichy family's Láng-line. In the building there is a children's home and a school. For the purposes of the exterior reconstruction a scientific documentation was made in 1984, based on the one hand on architecturalhistorical sources - the research work was made by István Bibó -, and on the other hand on the archeological survey on the scene - the work of Judit G. Lászay. Only the exterior walls of the building have been investigated, although archival sources, the plan of the building, its present state, and the course of the investigation brought such details and information that complemented and explained each other. The mansion's present form was built in the beginning of the 19th century. It has an U-shaped ground plan, and is a two-storeyed classicist building with a Baroque centre, the back of its turning wings is single-storeyed. Together with the belonging outbuildings formerly also U-shaped it had an almost closed, rectangular yard. On the storeyed part of the main building the classicist architecture of Pollack is to be observed with certain eclectic details. In the process of the archeological investigation anomalies resulting from the use of the parts of the former Baroque mansion building could be observed and explained. The plan of the classicist main facade was changed during the building. On the single-storeyed part, on the chapel-wing's exterior facade Baroque stilistic elements were preserved with the exception of slight alterations. The using of open arcaded passages was discovered on the interior facade in the court yard.
