A műemlékek sokszínűsége (A 28. Egri Nyári Egyetem előadásai 1998 Eger, 1998)

Újdonság volt ezen a Nyári Egyetemen az, hogy ismét csak Bulgarelli úrnak a javaslatára, itt sokan ülünk azok közül, akik aláírtuk az Egri Nyári Egyetem barátai egyesületének az alapító szándéknyilatkozatát és ezzel remélhetőleg valóban létrejön egy olyan baráti társaság, amelyik hozzájárulhat ahhoz, hogy ez a Nyári Egyetem a továbbiakban még eredményesebben, még szélesebb körben fejthesse ki tevékenységét, ámbár nem tudom, hogy ebbe a terembe mondjuk még 20 embert hogyan tudnánk elhelyezni. Hagyomány, hogy a záróülésen bejelentjük a következő' évi témát. Hagy hódoljak ennek a hagyománynak. Terveink szerint a jövő évi téma ez lesz: Műemlék és természet, a műemlék környezete, kert, park, kultúrtáj, szóval kivisszük a zöldbe a műemlékeket, vagy ha ottvannak, akkor felkeressük őket ebben a környezetükben, gondolom a kirándulás során és az előadások során is. Hagy mondjam azt, hogy nagy örömömre szolgálna, hogyha az itt ülők közül jövőre is minél többen jelen lennének ezen a jövő évi Nyári Egyetemen és majdan a továbbiakon is, én remélem, hogy nem a 28. volt az utolsó és nem a 29. lesz az utolsó, hanem számolódik ez, ameddig csak lehet. Kedves Hölgyeim és Uraim! Hálátlan dolog Agostházi László után beszélni, mert ő minden gondolatot, amit még akartam volna mondani, azt elmondott, úgyhogy akkor hagy mondjam azt, hogy csatlakozom az ő szavaihoz és akkor hagy fejezzem be ezzel mondanivalómat és azzal a nagy örömmel, hogy én is látom, hogy jó volt itt lenni 8 napon keresztül, én legalábbis azt a hét és fél napot, amit itt töltöttem, nagyon élveztem. Köszönöm. I am sad to note that I am the one to deliver the conclusions, since it would be more appropriate for either Péter Kalmár or Tamás Fejérdy to do so on behalf of OMvH or the Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS respectively, but I think all Hungarians and non Hungarians attending here are aware that we are going through an exciting period: since yesterday the country has had a new prime minister. A new ministry responsible for monument protection is to be set up and all those in charge are now busy trying to ensure that the changes are effective and that there is a satisfactory and promising outcome to this exciting situation for those involved in conservation. This is the reason why the two presidents, that of OMvH and that of ICOMOS are absent here and it falls on me to conclude the events of the 28th Summer University on behalf of both bodies. For about 13 years now, though I do not know the exact figure, it has been my duty at OMvH to compile the program of the Summer University and to harmonise the professional aspects of the event with the organisational part provided by the Eger colleagues. It is a pleasure to note the words of the chairman of the Summer University who gave a positive evaluation of the Summer University we are concluding now. I agree that it has been yet another successful summer university, which has accomplished its mission to give the participants further knowledge, skills and experience and besides allow them to have a good time, to make acquaintances and friends with each other. For personal reasons, I attach a lot of importance to the latter aspect. Many among you must be aware that 23 years ago, at the Summer University of that year, I took a wife, what is more a very good one and that is one reason for the Summer University to be close to my heart ever since. This year's event has surpassed the previous ones in several respects. For one thing, we have covered a wide scope of subjects this time, rather than focusing on a single topic. And also, its preparation involved significant international co-operation. I wonder if everybody knows that this year's summer university received substantial financial support from the European Commission, which is due, along with the European Commission, to Erzsébet Kovács who ventured to put together our application to the EU's Raphael program, and is also due to three foreign colleagues, friends of ours, who expressing their recognition of our event and
