Záróbeszédek / Closing speeches - ROMÁN András

their intention to go on co-operating with us, contributed to the support being granted to us. For, under the EU regulations, the consent and co-operation of at least three member states are needed for the granting of any funds for any program. These three eminent friends of ours are present here and have enhanced the professional standard of our event by presenting their papers. May I take this opportunity to repeat my thanks, in alphabetical order, to Mr Bulgarelli, Mrs Mattinen and Professor Prokopiou for their co-operation and support. Besides the EU, we have received a subsidy from the Ministry of Culture. With that, the National Board for Monument Protection could afford to provide scholarships for a total 50 participants from Hungary and the countries of the region. A novelty of this Summer university was the founding, at Mr Bulgarelli's instigation, of the Soceity of the Friends of the Eger Summer University, pledged by many, almost forty among the participants in a Letter of Intent. May I hope that the activities of the Friendly Soceity shall spread the word about, and make the Eger Summer University still more effective and active in an even wider context. It has been a tradition to announce at the closing session the topic for the next year. Let me observe this tradition now. We are planning to have as a subject for next year: Monuments and nature, the surroundings of monuments, gardens, parks, cultural landscapes, in other words we are taking the monuments for a hike in the woods and going to see those which already have a green environment. I would be very pleased to see the most possible among you again attending the 29th Summer University next year, as well as the oncoming ones. We are sure to have what to discuss. It is thankless to speak after László Agostházi, he having said almost everything already. Therefore may I go along with his acknowledgement of the lectures, the organisation and the execution of the event and say that everyone did their best in their particular field for its success. May I also express my acknowledgement to all the participants for inspiring us with the interest they showed and their active involvement. Thank you all.
