hitelességre nagyon nehéz egzakt válasz adni, de megértéséhez nem nélkülözhetők a nyilt szakmai viták, hiszen mindennapi munkánk során gyakorta kell megküzdenünk a hitelesség szakmai, etikai és esztétikai problémáival Visszagondolva az elmúlt hét eseményeire, szakmai programjaira, az érdeklődő hallgatóságra, az előadásokra, a szakmai vitékra az eszmecserékre, beszélgetésekre, úgy gondolom nemcsak szubjektív véleményem szerint, de objektiv mércével is megállapíthatom, hogy ez a nyári egyetem jó volt. Elinditott egy sor gondolatot mindannyiunkban, amelyek új és új területek felé nyitják ki szemünket. Elmélyítette bennünk a szakmai elhivatottság és elkötelezettség érzését és aláhúzta mindannyiunk számára azt a felelősséget, amelyet viselnünk kell épített örökségünk fenntartásával és megőrzésével kapcsolatban. Végezetül szeretném megköszönni azoknak a munkáját akik a programot kidolgozták és gördülékeny lebonyolítását biztosították. Köszönöm a szervezőknek, azoknak, akik minden eseményen velünk voltak és azoknak, akik a háttérben észrevétlenül gondoskodtak rólunk és a rendezvény sikeréről, az angol, német, francia tolmácsolásról, a technikáról, a jó ellátásról és igy tovább. Köszönet illeti mindnyájukat. Meg kell köszönjük az előadóknak is az előadásokat. Hiszem azt, hogy meg kell köszönjem mindannyiunknak, hogy úgy voltunk itt, ahogy itt voltunk. Barátsággal, szakma iránti, hivatás iránti szeretettel, egymás megértésével és tiszteletével, azzal a szándékkal, hogy megismerjük egymás munkásságát, szakmai véleményét. Köszönöm, hogy együtt voltunk és mint a nyári egyetem elnöke köszönöm mindannyiuk csillogó tekintetének élményét. Szép volt ez a Nyári Egyetem. Én így gondolom. * I do not like closing ceremonies because they involve saying good-bye. However, I do not think that we have any reason to be sad since we have had a very good event. We've met old acquaintances, gained new and kind friends while we were able to work on the general, individual, theoretical and practical issues of monument protection intensively. And perhaps that is the most important point. Let us take count of what has happened in this past week. Eighty of us from 13 countries participated in the presentations, excursions, professional exchanges of views, meals and friendly meetings. Let me list the countries in the order of the number of participants. After Hungary I must mention Romania, Slovakia as the third, followed by Italy, Greece, then Germany, Finland, Bulgaria, the Ukraine, Russia, Croatia and Austria. Last but not least comes Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka where we could welcome Roland Silva from, an outstanding representative of our profession, the president of ICOMOS. It would probably be interesting to recall all the presentations, however a brief list may also give us a good idea about the multitude of issues we could learn about. Conserving and restoring railway edifices, agricultural buildings and ruins, monumental stone architecture and a very specific creation as the Nurags in Sardinia, that we can rarely see here in Central European or even elsewhere in Europe. Bridges, industrial constructions, gardens, Turkish monuments, of course in Hungary, issues concerning the cultural countryside, the specific topic of the Thracian tomb chambers are also included in the colourful palette. The architectural heritage of Sri Lanka must also be mentioned, which is exciting since it allowed us to glance at a field, a constructed heritage, which is incredibly far away from European culture, still raising the same principle issues that we must face day by day whether we work in Europe or anywhere else in the world. We heard an expert talk on Byzantine churches bringing their spirit nearer to us. We could hear a lecture and exchange our views on our tasks concerning the preservation and protection of modern architecture on the occasion of Alvar Aalto's centenary.
