ÉRTEKEZÉSEK - Dr. Vitális György: Magyar geológusok Indonéziában

HUNGARIAN GEOLOGISTS IN INDONESIA by Dr György Vitális The paper briefly outlines the activities of the Hungarian geologists, Tivadar Posewitz, Lajos Lóczy Jr. and Horst Bandát, who worked in the late 19th century and early 20th century in the Indonesian archipelago. Overcoming towering hardships, they worked infatiguably and reserved for themselves a place in the golden book of discoveries. Tivadar Posewitz' main exploration area was Borneo and to a lesser extent Bangka as well as the islands of Sumatra and Flores. Lajos Lóczy Jr. worked in Indonesia between 1920 and 1923 and was responsible for hydrocarbon prospecting in southern Sumatra, on Timor and in the area of Palembang on Sumatra. Horst Bandats research took place on Sumatra, Jawa, Borneo and Celebes (Sulawesi). The work of the geologists described in the paper was of high quality. May they be remembered as examples of devotion to and sense of vocation for the present and future generations. Translated by Dénes Lóczy Az Indonéziai-szigetvilág vázlatos térképe
