Plebeius idas (LINNAEUS, 1761) Idas Blue (Map 38, Item 111) Not much is known about this species in Hungary. Scattered faunistic records have been reported from all over the country but because of its similarity to P. argus and P. argyrognomon and the difficulty in examining and determining material the majority of these reports are probably erroneous. There is some uncertainty about its presence in the Bakony. Specimens lacking the for-tibia do occur and based on this criteria P. idas is believed to have two generations in the region, the first during May/June the second in July/August. Results from Zsolt Bálint's research suggest that Hungarian populations of P. idas are identical to the German ssp. lycidasoides and subsequently ssp. acre on has been discredited. Not protected. Status in the Bakony: uncertain. Polyommatus thersites (C ANTENER, 1834) Chapman's Blue (Map 34, Item 116) Currently 21 localities are known from the Bakony region. The butterfly has two generations during the year. The first generation is on the wing in May/June and is more numerous than the summer brood flying in July/August. P. thersites resembles P. icarus in flight and appearance and this similarity may have lead to the species being overlooked by many entomologists. Based on Zsolt Bálint's investigations Hungarian populations of P. thersites were found to be indistinguishable from the German race ssp. alexius & subsequently the previously described Hungarian race ssp. pergrata has been rejected. Not protected. Status in the Bakony: 3/2. Agrodiaetus admetus (ESPER, 1785) Anomalous Blue (Map 40, Item 120) In Hungary the species is on the wing from mid June until the end of July. At one time isolated populations of A. admetus were scattered all over the country. Sadly many of these colonies have been destroyed and only two Hungarian localities have recently been confirmed. The presence of A. admetus in our region is questionable and relates to a single specimen collected by Ferenc Buschmann near the Tihany Peninsula. Protected. Status in the Bakony: 1. Agrodiaetus amandus (SCHNEIDER, 1792) Amanda's Blue (Map 40, Item 121) Although the butterfly's foodplant Vicia is widespread throughout the Bakony A. amandus is relatively uncommon. The species is on the wing from the end of May to late June and frequents uncultivated meadows on the fringes of forests especially where Vicia grows. Populations exist in the Southern Bakony and the Balaton Highlands. To date only a single specimen has been reported from the Northern subregion despite intensive searches around Hárskút, Szentgál, Fenydfdand Mt. Somld. The strongest populations occur at Pécsely, Vászoly, Dörgicse and Balatonszdlds in the Balaton Highlands. These populations need some protection if A. amandus is to survive in our region. Protected. Status in the Bakony: 2.
