Angol nyelvű összefoglaló
Maeulinea árion (LINNAEUS, 1758) ssp. laranda FRUHSTORFER,1910; ssp. annarion DIETZEL, 1989 Large Blue (Map 36, Item 107) M. arion ssp. laranda is a local subspecies and its numbers are in decline. It flies from the end of May until July although in some years the flight period is over by mid June. In the Tapolca Basin a distinctive race ssp. annarion has been described by the author. It is generally larger and brighter than ssp. laranda and flies from the second week of June until July. The habitats of this extremely local subspecies are close to a main road and there is concern about pollution from car exhausts fumes (particularly in the area around Zalahaláp-Kolonia). In the past seven years there have been no fresh sightings from these threatened localities. Protected species. Status in the Bakony: ssp. laranda: 4; ssp. annarion: 1. Maeulinea alcon (DENIS et SCHIFFERMÜLLER, 1775) Alcon Blue (Map 37, Item 108) This very local and extremely rare butterfly flies from mid July until mid August in the Bakony. Its foodplant Gentiana pneumonanthe can be found in wet, marshy fields in the Southern subregion. A small population exists at Tárnics Field on Mt. Kab; in excess of 20 specimens were recorded in a few hours from this restricted locality during one morning in late July 1996 by Martin Gascoigne-Pees. In 1992 a few specimens were collected around the Kornyi-Lake in the Balaton Highlands. Specimens in the MNM museum collected by Antal Schmidt from the Northern Bakony probably relate to the newly described species Maeulinea xerophila. According to a survey undertaken by Lászld Rézbányai it is not without reason to suggest that these Bakony populations of M. alcon may be an independent subspecies. Protected. Status in the Bakony: 2/1. Maeulinea xerophila BERGER, 1946 Berger's Blue or Enzian Blue (Map 37, Item 109) Hungarian specimens of Maeulinea xerophila are always listed erroneously as M. rebeli according to Zsolt Bálint. M. rebeli is an Alpine endemic species breeding on mountain slopes while M. xerophila is widely distributed in both Hungary and the Western Palaearctic and sympatric with M. alcon. Because of its similarity to these closely related species the distribution of M. xerophila in the Bakony region is mostly unknown. A large race ssp. maxentius with forewings averaging 20 mm. across has been described from the Hárskút Plateau flying in mid June until mid July over hillsides, slopes and mountain meadows. The holotype was captured in the Max-Valley, Hárskút, Veszprém at an altitude of 440 metres on 17.VI.1988. The female allotype was taken at Mt. Borzas, Hárskút, Veszprém at an altitude of 560 metres on 27.VI. 1988 and further paratypes have been collected during 1987-1990 from the Reé Forest, Max-Valley, Mt. Borzas, Mt. Kdris and in the vicinity of Gyöngyös. Currently numbers within these localities are healthy and the subspecies appears to be expanding. In 1993 new colonies were discovered on the slopes of the Veszprém-Ajka breakline at Rátóts Great-Field, from the Esztergáli Valley and at the foot of Mt. Papod. With the evacuation of Russian troops from the region vast unspoilt areas are being studied for the first time in 45 years and many new finds are being reported. The main threat to these colonies comes from grazing livestock and the use of pesticides. It is hoped that this new subspecies will not become a target for collectors! Not protected. Status in the Bakony: 2.
