Szakály Sándor-. The situation of the Hungarian military policy before the 2nd Hungarian Army was sent to the front. The author writes about the air raid on Kassa which was regarded as a casus belli. We can come to know the circumstances of the proclamation of war. We can follow the Kárpát-group being sent to the front, then its war casualties and finally its withdrawal from the Eastern front. Then Hitler and Horthy began to bargain with respect to the proportion of Hungary in the war against the Soviet Union. Not even by diplomatic runarounds could they prevent the 2nd Hungarian Army being sent to the front. We are given a picture about the weaponry and the preparedness of the army as well. Then we can follow how the 2nd Hungarian Army gets involved in the war. Seewann Gerhard-. The evaluation of the Hungarian ethnic policy from the 1950s till today. According to the author of this study, 1945 was also a turning point in the ethnic issue. The collective calling to account of the German minority resulted in their evacuation from the country. It was followed by the population change in 1946, in which issue the Hungarian and Czechoslovakian governmental bodies came to an agreement at first, but later also had debates over the offences suffered by the Hungarians. After 1948 came the persecution of the Southern Slavs. This process has poisoned the soul of generations. According to the author we can speak about ethnic policy in Hungary only after 1968. The socialist transformation of the society subordinated the interests of the peoples to an ill-conceived internationalist interest. We can come to know the typical Eastern-Middle-European conditions of the education and the language issue. As a final conclusion, the author says that a democratic society is characterized by openness, ethnic diversity and a highly developed identity consciousness of the various ethnic groups.
