Mrs. Gergely Kovács The Work Plan of the Foundation of the Postal and Telecommunication Museum for 2003 Administration and Budget Management • The Following conclusions of the report on Postal Museum oversight affect administration and budget management:- The number of personnel... is necessary but not sufficient, considering that they are needed at 16 venues throughout the country.- The new wage scales for public employees should be considered valid for areas under the jurisdiction of the foundation.- The number of visitors to the central exhibition areas fluctuates sharply, and founders could increase visitor traffic through advertising.- The storage situation is not reassuring ... new artefacts entering the collection cannot be managed appropriately, since neither the required space nor staff is available. These issues need to be resolved to the extent possible. • In addition to the above, the following administrative factors enjoy top priority:- Revisitation of director instructions, streamlining same, and eliminating overlaps, followed by publication;- designing a grant monitoring system, submitting joint bids for the two museums;- registering foundation’s free-of-charge use rights to exhibition venues and warehouses in land records;- renewing work contracts and contracts between employers and employees based on results of oversight monitoring in 2002;- improving operation conditions, bringing operations at out-of-town exhibition facilities under the same umbrella;- preparing a work plan for major and minor renovations to out-of-town exhibition facilities. Operations with Collections • Restoring artefacts of postal history operations and administration, in keeping with the restoration plan. • Securing protection for the mobile post office wagon at Balatonszemes with a light roof structure or a new canvas, once protective operations have been completed. • Cleaning, and when necessary, repackaging artefacts in the containers and underground storage facilities at Gyâli Avenue to protect them from dust. • Evaluating the collection enhancing operations of the archiving committee. • Compiling the documentation and drawings needed to prepare scale models and copies of artefacts. 347
