Scientific Work • Preparing a comprehensive study on the postal history of Kőszeg. • Preparing a catalogue of Postal Workers as Portrayed in the Stamps of the World. • Using grant monies to start up a series of books on the great Hungarian philatelists of the 20th century. • Using grant monies to continue the series Hungarian Engineers in the 20th Century. • Starting up a new publication in the CD-ROM series on telecom history as soon as possible, this time covering the history of Hungarian television broadcasting. • Organizing the museum history documents in the museum archives. • Beginning a competition (Futics competition) in connection with an exhibit set for 2004 called Mail in the Military 90 Years Ago. Exhibits • Renewing the permanent exhibit at Nagyvázsony by installing a computer and pre­senting a CD-ROM. • Exhibiting the oeuvre of Ferenc Swindl, graphic artist and stamp designer. • Refurbishing a permanent exhibit at the customer section of the main post office in Pécs. • Preparing for the very first exhibit at the house of the Kőszeg Postmaster, a new exhibition site. (Showing will include Postal Workers of the World as they Appear on Stamps, Travel through Europe by Mail Coach, and the Post Office of Kőszeg, the Free Royal City.) • Installing post office furnishings to the inn, originally from Jászárokszállás and now located at the Open Air Museum of Ethnography in Szentendre. • Exhibition at Diósd, telling the story of the 70-year-old radio transmitters. Audience Relations and Programs • Increasing the diversity of regular programs (Telecom May Day, Museum May Day, World Postal Day, and Advent Gathering) by including offerings from rural profes­sional organizations. • Preparing and unveiling memorial plaques to postmasters István Tomcsányi of Berzék and György Sóhalmy of Tállya on the streets bearing their names. • Unveiling a memorial plaque to mark the 50th anniversary of the medium wave radio station at Győr. • Holding a memorial conference in Debrecen to mark the 100th birthday of Dr. Rezső Soó. • Helping 20-25 settlements to celebrate the centenary of their postal services in 2003; the foundation will present each with a tasteful plaque that will go in the customer service sections, so that everyone learns of the anniversary. • The 150 members of the Association of Museum Friends are organizing museum visits every single month except July and August, partly to see new major exhibits, and partly to check out less well-known specialized museums. 348
