Postai és Távközlési Múzeumi Alapítvány Évkönyve, 2001

Tartalmi összefoglaló angol nyelven

• The Museum Endorsement Union, an organised and registered community of museum lovers, held a series of programmes. The most successful were study trips to the Százhalombatta archaeological park and the Szentendre Museum of Ethnography (both near Budapest). Scientific Operations • Collecting the materials for a CD-ROM on telephone history (ranging in time from 1881 to 2001), which involved preparing artefacts and documents in the museum collection for presentation, writing studies, and digitalising and editing work, was an outstanding project. • Another significant project, requiring a great deal of processing, concerned preparing the studies for the 2001 Foundation Yearbook. In addition to its regular chapters (plan of operations, História domus, reports, etc.) it will offer a valuable selection of the source materials owned by the museum. • We prepared smaller studies and entries for several publications and encyclopaedic works (Museum in School, Outstanding Hungarian Philatelists, etc.) • We completed the significant research required to introduce our technical diagrams for aboveground construction into our inventory. • While making the CD-ROM on telephone history, we began compiling materials for our first specialist periodical. Miscellaneous • Our tenth volume in the series 20,h Century Hungarian Engineers Serving Telecommunications was published by Nap Publishers. It presented the life and work of József Hollós, Endre Kolossváry, Endre Magyari, Béla Marschalkó, Tihamér Nemes, Bemát Paskay, Béla Tomcsányi, István Tomcsányi, Iván Tomits, and János Zakariás. The books, published with grants won from the Government committee on Information Technology, are packed into folders of 1,000, and delivered to all libraries by the Foundation, as well as to students who perform well at specialised schools and universities. • The Postal Museum’s exhibition guide to its permanent exhibit Museum in the Museum was published in Hungarian and English. • We issued nearly 50 permits to photograph and film the museums.
