Mrs. Béla Vichmann Report on Public Service and Economic Accounting The Foundation of the Postal and Telecommunication Museum was established on 1 January 1990 by the MATAV Hungarian Telecom Corporation, the Hungarian Postal Service Cor­poration and the Antenna Hungaria Corporation. Their vision for the Foundation was that it become a part of Hungarian and universal culture, and they charged it with the mission of scientifically processing and maintaining all parts of their heritage of value to posterity. As of 1 January 1998, the Budapest Municipal Court qualified the Foundation of the Postal and Telecommunication Museum, registered as Number 429, as an especially sig­nificant public service organisation. The goal of the Foundation is to conduct cultural activity and protect the cultural heritage. The public service activity of the Foundation is a government task under Act 140/1997 on the Protection of Cultural Resources, Care for Museums and Similar Repositories and Libraries, and on General Culture. Following the adoption of the annual operation costs of the Foundation, the founders provide the funds on a monthly basis. In 1999, the Foundation did not conduct any business activity, and it did not distribute any profits on its economic activity, instead devoting them to the activities defined in its charter. The organisation of the Foundation is independent of all political parties. It receives no support from any of them, does not support any of them, and it conducts no political activity whatsoever. Revenues The revenue of the Foundation is based on the financial contributions of the corporations that founded it, and on its supporters.
