Use of Revenues While ensuring smooth operations, the Foundation has been stringently thrifty in its operations. One reason for this was the delayed approval of support for the fourth quarter, and another was the desire to successfully complete preparations to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of the Hungarian nation and the 10th anniversary of the Foundation of the Postal and Telecommunication Museum. Purchases of facilities Museum shop for the Postal and Stamp Museums 3 448 Two high-performance computers 544 Power lawn-mower for open-air exhibition area at Diôsd 487 Various pieces of less valuable equipment 817 Investments envisaged, but not completed The local government of the Terézváros district of Budapest did not approve the remodelling of the attic space in the Postal Museum’s leased building on Andrássy Avenue, or its use by the museum. It is anticipated that the Stamp Museum will be enlarged in 2000, with the Hungarian Postal Service Corp. covering the costs. Enlargement and reconstruction the Postal Museum at Balatonszemes had to be rescheduled because of a lack of funds. The 242k Hungarian forints already earmarked to cover part of the project will instead be used for the renovation of the Budapest Postal Museum. Operation costs, amounting to 131,980,000 forints, are included in the annual accounts. Savings for 1999 amount to 19,008,000 forints, to be used by the Foundation to complete projects already underway (Museum of Telephony, Postal Museum). Budapest, 20 April 2000 240
