Exhibitions Organised by the Stamp Museum • Flora and Fauna of Hungary’s Forests (opened on 7 January in Sopron at the Museum of Forestry, and on 28 August at the Postmaster’s Office in Celdömök) • Outstanding Personalities in Hungarian History and Science (Opened on 25 February in Baghdad) • The Stamp Museum’s Homage to the 100-Year-Old Hungária Stamp Collectors ’ Circle (opened on 21 May at the Headquarters of the National Association of Hungarian Stamp Collectors) • Flowers on Postage Stamps of the World (opened on 1 August in Debrecen’s Stagecoach Exhibition Hall) • Space Flight Reflected in Stamps (opened on 6 August at the Móra Ferenc Cultural Centre in Szeged) • Flora and Fauna on Hungarian Postage Stamps (opened on 21 August in China) • A History of Hungarian Stamp Days (opened on 20 September at the Stamp Museum) • László Dudás Oeuvre Exhibition (opened on 20 October at the Stamp Museum) • Christmas (opened on 10 November at the Stamp Museum) Exhibitions Organised by the Postal Museum • Images Reflecting 100 Years of Telephone History in Pécs (opened on 14 May at the TeleGallery in Pécs) • The Postal-MATA V Sports Association Centenary (opened on 20 November at the Postal Museum) • Archives from the History of the Horváth Mihály Square Telephone Exchange (opened on 21 December at MATAV’s Technology Management Headquarters) Public Relations • Asa member of the council set up on 15 March 1999 to sponsor the fortress of Nagyvázsony, we participated in maintaining the historical buildings and the grounds surrounding the fortress ruins throughout the year. • We served as caretaker to the audio material broadcast over Radio Petőfi throughout an entire day, as part of the Telecom May-time celebration, working in coordination with the radio’s representative. • As part of the Telecom May-time programme, on 17 May we unveiled a memorial column to Dr. Lajos Horváth in the Radio and Television Museum Garden at Diósd, and announced the results of a competition called Surfing 1848 on the Internet. • The Stamp Museum organised a highly successful exhibit and children’s programme for the Museum May-time festivities (on 16 May) • A wreath was laid at Diósd to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nobel Prize winning acoustic postal engineer György Békésy, with a Békésy commemorative programme at the Postal Museum in the evening • A visit to Diósd was organised for the participants in an international conference held to mark the Békésy centenary. 237
