Pál Bolberitz: The Beginnings of Hungarian Philosphy (The Reception of Nicholas of Cusa in the work of "De homine" by Peter Monedulatus Csokas Laskoi)

34 P. BOLBERITZ have been able to keep abreast with the intellectual trends of Europe for more than a thousand of years. Even in the crucial periods of history the Hungarian mind has been able to cultivate reason. Peter Monedulatus Csókás Laskoi was a philosopher, who first iniatiated to cultivate philosophy independently in Hungary, but with his work he could justify that reason and faith do not exclude each other. Philosophy, in case it wants to be an authentic, genuine philosophy, cannot neglect its transcendental condition. The reception of Laskoi on Cusanus just confirms the aforementioned by promoting the Catholic cardinal, philosopher theologist from the obscurity of oblivion and misunderstanding (Cusanus was accused of panteism by the Catholics for a long time), who had been able to accomplish the reconciliation of reason and faith in his oeuvre rendering an example for Laskoi, too.
