RECENSIONES 247 The conclusion strengthens the paper’s main thought, namely that the adolescent’s knowledge of scripture is key to his/her faith formation. For this to be effective it is important that the approach to introduction of scripture be done with adequate knowledge, appropriate understanding, and adequate methods. Without an adequate and appropriate knowledge of the teachings found in scripture, it is difficult to bring about a personal relationship with Jesus and a decision that is in harmony with this personal faith. In taking this stand the paper in no way claims that scripture merely plays an educational role in the formation of faith, nor that it is merely a tool thereof. The movement of the Holy Spirit cannot be confined to mere foundational principles and analysis. The aim of this work is rather to give underlying support and help in this field. This paper focuses on a very narrow field of catechesis of the adolescent, and strictly adheres to the introduction of the important role that scripture plays in their faith formation, keeping in view the above stated methodological analysis. In itself it is not an adequate tool on the practical level, but can offer helpful guidelines and directives in catechetical praxis.
