Holotype and paratypes have been deposited in the invertebrate collection of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazonia (INPA-PLH), Brazil. RESULTS Family Chiorchiidae Southwell et Kirshner, 1932 Subfamily Chiorchiinae Sey, 1988 Chiostichorchis lobatotestis sp. n.* Host: Mesomys sp. (Rodentia, Echimyidae) Location: caecum Type locality: Jurua river, Acre State, Brazil Prevalence: 33.3% Mean intensity: 7 Abundance: 2.3 Specimens deposited: holotype (INPA-PLH 363), paratypes (INPA-PLH 364 a-e) Description: (Fig.l): Based on 5 whole mounts, 1 dissected specimen and 1 specimen cut in median sagittal plane. Body shape and form varying depending on contraction of body musculature; oval elongate or pear-shaped, 5000-8500 X 2000-3200 in measurements. Acetabulum terminal 1150-1800 in length, 1150-1800 in width, 550 in dorso-ventral direction wall of acetabulum 220 in width; Chiostichorchis type (sensu Sey 1987), number of muscle units d.e.c. 43-46, d.i.c 42-44; v.e.c. 40-43; v.i. 75-81; m.e.c. 10-12: Ratio of body length 1:4.3^4.7. Pharynx pear-shaped, 550-650 x 400-800 in measurements, 500 in dorso-ventral direction, ratio of body length 1:9.0-13.0; to diameter of acetabulum 1:2.5-6.0 of Megacotyle type (sensu Sey 1983) in median sagittal section. Extramural pharyngeal sacs 200-400x300-400 in measurements, 300 in dorso-ventral direction. Oesophagus 250-500 in length, almost straight, musculature of wall weakly developed, no bulb or posterior sphincter. Caeca in lateral sides of body, forming several convolutions along their way, reaching Fig. 1 Chiostichorchis lobatotestis level of acetabulum with blind ends., Tes- sp. n., ventral view * This species was named after its lobed testes.
