tes deeply lobed, tandem or slightly oblique in middle third of body; anterior testis 725-1100 x 500-1250 in measurements with four lobuli; 700 in dorsoventral direction. Posterior testis 600-1250 x 700-1400 in measurements, 800 in dorso-ventral direction with two lobuli. Ovary spherical or elongate in posterior half of body, median or right of median line, 600-650x300-600 in measurements, 450 in dorsoventral direction. Mehlis' glands close to ovary, 350-450 x 300-600, Laurer's canal not crossing excretory vesicle, opening on dorsal surface about 350 before excretory pore. Uterus winding forward to testes then ventral to male duct; metraterm simple. Vitellaria follicular in lateral fields, extending from level of posterior testis to acetabulum. Vitelline follicles posteriorly move to median line but not confluent; eggs 115-130x50-70, not embryon ated. Genital pore behind oesophageal bifurcation surrounded by genital sucker 9700-750 in diameter, 350 in dorso-ventral direction; terminal genitalium Waltheri type (sensu Sey 1987) with slight modification: circular musculature of genital papilla weakly developed and genital sphincter locating at base of genital fold. Vas deferens convoluted, moderately developed; cirrus pouch present, 350 in dorso-ventral direction, involving a strongly convoluted vesicula seminalis interna and a prostatic part with numerous prostatic cells. Ductus ejaculatorius and metraterm have a joint duct. Lymphatic system present. Excretory bladder just before acetabulum, excretory pore opening dorsally, near to acetabulum, about 1500 from posterior extremity. DISCUSSION The newly described species belongs to the monotypic genus Chiostichorchis Artigas at Pacheco, 1933. The type species of this genus is, however, controversal (Travassos 1934; Skrjabin 1949; Yamaguti 1971) due to its chronological misinterpretation. Sprehn (1932) described the amphistome species Stichorchis waltheri from the coypu (Myocaster coipus) imported from South America. In the same year Pacheco and Artigas (1932) reported on the helminth parasites of the coypu and they designated a new amphistome species, Stichorchis myopotami. The description of this species and the designation of the new genus, Chiostichorchis, created for Stichorchis myopotami by Artigas and Pacheco were, however, published in 1993 (Artigas and Pacheco 1933a,b) (see Pereira 1968). Hence C. waltheri and C. myopotami are homonyms and the former has priority as a valid name and type species. Chiostichorchis lobatotestis sp. n. differs from C. waltheri by having lobed testes, position of testes (anterior half of body), structure of the terminal genitalium (circular musculature of genital papilla weakly developed, genital sphincter at base of genital fold), and diverse host (Mesomys sp.).
