The collection label data of the imago specimens of the bot and warble fly species preserved in the Zoological Department, HNHM, Budapest, are faithfully described and published. Twenty-three species of the three dipterous families are represented by 321 ex., which include also the specimens collected by Dr. Z. KASZAB and Dr. L. SUGAR in Mongolia. KEY WORDS: Diptera, Gasterophilidae, Oestridae, Hypodermatidae, collection records, Mongolia, Hungary, Palaearctic region. Insect collection specimens bear label data i.e. valuable information for research of any kind. While the huge quantity of specimens and data in numerous insect groups is a great problem and needs all the advantage ^ the new methods of information storage and automated data-processing, as regards bot flies and warble flies, every specimen deserves our special attention. It is well known that the imagos of these parasites are short living, they are on wings for some days only; consequently, they are seldom collected. The ojd collection of bot and warble flies in the Hungarian Natural History Museum was reviewed by SZILADY (1935). There the collection of stomach hots (Gasterophilidae) was very rich, while the species of the other two families must have been poorly represented (there was no voucher specimen of e. g. Pharyngomyia picta, Hypoderma diana from Hungary, cf. PAPP 1988). The entire old collection of bot and warble flies was burnt in Budapest in 1956. When a new general collection had been built up, Dr. Ferenc MIHÁLYI asked for and received also specimens of these flies from institutions abroad. In the previous decade dr. Árpád SOÓS received representatives of several species (one or two specimens each) from the late K. Ya. GRUNIN (Leningrad). Of course, Hungarian dipterists have made efforts to collect imagos of bot and warble flies also in Hungary. Dr. Zoltán KASZAB collected some specimens of bot flies on his six expeditions to Mongolia. Only one specimen each of two species have been hitherto published (GRUNIN 1969b) from KASZAB's collectings, but there are some more specimens in our collection. Dr. László SUGÁR collected numerous specimens of three oestrid species during his 1974 collecting trip to Mongolia; he has generously presented these flies to the Zoological Department, HNHM. 83
